Tina
Tina is sweet and loving. She was apparently someone's pet at one time. Unfortunately when she entered our program, Tina was shy, and rightfully so. She had been abandoned on a local golf course to fend for herself. Somewhere in her wanderings, she had been attacked and bitten by a rather large animal on the neck (we believe a dog), and had an abcess as large as a grapefruit. That has been taken care of, and doesn't seem to have affected her love of all other canines.
Her play style with other dogs is very submissive. She does play bows, and has them chase her. She also loves to wrestle once she warms up. She lives with three females, one much larger, and the other two about her size.
She does not jump on furniture, and is happy to sit by your feet. She will tell you when she is hungry and thirsty. She came to us somewhat underweight but is working hard to put on weight (and loving the extra meals).
She knows the love of a tummy rub, and ear scratches are her favourite.
Tina would be fine with a family and children of all ages. She is currently being fostered with an 8 month old and 4 year old. I have an eight month old baby, and a four year old. Tina sits next to the baby, as if she is protecting her. She does not lick her, but allows the baby to knead her fur. She pretty much leaves the 4 year old alone, but if he approaches her, she just lets him hug her and pet her.
Adopting me will be a lifelong commitment, and my new family needs to be ready, willing and able to provide me not only with lots of love as an indoor member of the family, but also with ongoing training and socialization.

Please note that Pit Bull Rescue San Diego does not adopt on a first come first served basis. Generally we have formed an opinion about the sort of home that we want for each of the dogs in our program. This opinon is formed from knowing each dog and observing their interactions in various situations and through periodic evaluations. Our goal is to place our charges in the home that is the best possible for that particular dog. Our only goal is happiness and forever homes for our dogs. A forever home is most likely to happen when we do the best we can to find lifestyles and personalities that match.
We are aware that this is a human process and that you may or may not agree with our decisions. Please understand that we take very seriously the lives placed in our hands for this brief time and our decisions are only made out of protectiveness for the breed and the specific dogs we are placing and not out of any judgment of you or your life.
